Help! My computer crashed!

London, 24 January 2012 – The loss of data remains a huge problem. Last year, Stellar Data Recovery help desk responded to 14,813 calls with questions about data loss. More than half of the cases involved company data.

The help desk team of five also processed thousands of emails with questions, while experts helped a lot of people solve their problems via the free chat on Stellar’s Data Recovery website.

“People like to be helped quickly and efficiently. When something happens to their computer, they are often faced with a problem because they can no longer access their data and are thus unable to continue with their work. Their uncertainty about whether their data will ever be retrieved is something our help desk wants to solve as soon as possible, “says Chief Operations Officer Kees Jan Meerman.


For businesses and consumers alike, a crashed hard drive on a desktop or laptop without any backup continues to be the most common problem. Next are the more complex systems (RAID) with lost business data. Common causes for this to occur are mistakes made during maintenance, a failed backup or a drive failure during a RAID rebuild. Stellar Data Recovery also sees an increase in problems with SD cards and solid-state drives.
